Wye Valley Weekend

A weekend* canoeing in the stunning Wye Valley, overnight camping (or yurt glamping) in an apple orchard by the river (or Bed and Breakfast if preferred).          *weekdays also possible

Get away from the humdrum of daily life and come immerse yourself in the splendour of the Wye Valley. Your guide takes you on a relaxing two day meander down river in this lush environment. Easy canoeing, suitable for novices and more experienced paddlers. Camp by the water's edge in an apple orchard and spend the evening around the fire (yurts with wood-burners also available) . Or if you prefer, bed and breakfast accommodation. This is a great trip to do with family and friends.

Timings: We generally meet at 10am on the first day and finish about 4pm the following day.

What's included? Canoe, Canoe paddle, life vest, dry bags (to keep your stuff dry), qualified river guide, camping fees, river beach picnic lunches, evening campfire cuisine/BBQ., taxi shuttle back to vehicles.

About the food: We all love good food, especially after a day canoeing down river! Customers from previous trips have often commented that the food provided exceeded their expectations. We hope that you will feel the same way! Meals are included from lunch on day one to lunch on day 2. Breakfast is cereals, fruit, eggs and bacon, Lunch is a buffet style, make your own sandwich affair and other bits and pieces, dinner is cooked on the campfire. Anyone is invited to help with the camfire cooking but only if they like - no expectations. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements by indicating so when you complete the booking form - We will do our best to accomadate you. Please note that snack food or alcoholic drinks are not included so BYO (please see FAQ for guidelines re. alcohol)

Price: £185 adult   £105 child under 16 years  £80 two or more children  (Yurt glamping/B and B extra).

WEIGHT LIMIT: Sorry but our canoes are not suitable for people who weigh in excess of 18 stone (114 kg) as they may tip over!

What to wear/bring: When canoeing you'll want to be wearing right gear for the weather conditions: Dress up extra warm and wear thermals if it's going to be colder, bring a rain coat if it might be wet, wear loose cotton for hot weather. Loose fitting clothes are much more comfortable for canoeing than tight fitting. For your feet old trainers or crocs are good. Don't wear flip flops or wellies. You will be provided with a 60 litre watertight plastic barrel or a 'drybag' in which to put all your gear. Even if you fall in the river (which is highly unlikely) all your gear will stay dry! 

Here's the list of what to bring:

  • a tent (smallish, lightweight is best)
  • sleeping bag
  • sleeping matt
  • Change of footwear for evening.
  • Swim suit,
  • Sun hat, sun block.
  • Warm hat for the evening.
  • Toiletries, loo roll, & Towel .
  • Plastic or metal Plate/bowl, mug, cutlery(label them so you know they’re yours).
  • Torch.
  • Insect Repellent (not many bugs on the Wye).
  • Water bottle.
  • Other stuff - : Binoculars, personal snacks, camera…?
